Torok Hills Resort Lombok
Coordination of design and development of Gran Meliá Lombok until obtain the PBG.
This stage was the backbone of the project, where we transitioned from visionary concepts to the concrete technical documentation required for the PBG (Persetujuan Bangunan Gedung)—the essential Indonesian building permit.
Our journey wasn't just about aesthetics; it was a complex synchronization of multidisciplinary expertise. We served as the central hub, harmonizing the creative DNA of Inspiral Architecture & Design Studios with the technical precision of our specialized engineering teams.
Our Collaborative Framework
To ensure the project's feasibility and structural integrity, we led a comprehensive coordination process involving:
-
Full Development BOQ (Bill of Quantities): Our process included the meticulous preparation of a comprehensive BOQ. This involved calculating every cubic meter of concrete, every linear meter of wiring, and every high-end finish to provide a transparent, accurate financial roadmap for the entire development.
-
Architectural Integration: Working hand-in-hand with Inspiral to ensure the organic, iconic forms of the villas were technically executable without compromising the design intent.
-
Structural Engineering: Collaborating with structural experts to navigate Lombok’s unique topography and seismic requirements, ensuring every villa is as resilient as it is beautiful.
-
MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, & Plumbing): Coordinating complex systems to provide world-class luxury amenities while maintaining the project's commitment to sustainability and efficiency.
-
Civil & Infrastructure: Managing the interface between the natural landscape and the essential utility networks required for a premium resort.
Gallery
This gallery offers an exclusive look at the Design Coordination and Technical Development behind the Gran Meliá Lombok. Here, we bridge the gap between architectural imagination and physical construction.
This collection documents the intensive journey of securing the PBG (Building Permit), a process defined by precision and multidisciplinary synergy. You will see how we unified the bold concepts of Inspiral Architecture with high-performance engineering to create a destination that is as structurally sound as it is visually breathtaking.
The masterplan
Torok Hills (owned by a mixture of around 15 Investors):
• Total land size: is around 14 Hectares.
• The land is a hill, and parts of it are quite steep
• A total of 73 villas (130 bedrooms) are proposed for the site
• A Clubhouse will be developed in a central location of the site to provide an
F&B and Recreation facility for Villa guests.
Positioned as an ‘Eco-sensitive Five-Star Retreat’, Gran Meliá Lombok includes 75 units of five different types of accommodation – Kayma Moroccan tented suites, Aurora minimalist suites, Inspiral eco-luxury villas, La Residenza Bauhaus-style residences and Tent Beach Villas – as well as an ‘Oceanclub’ with a restaurant, spa, events pavilion, and so forth.

“Different parts of Indonesia have their own unique architectural styles so we tried to incorporate elements of those. Not so much in terms of the look of the buildings themselves – we didn’t want to create a pastiche – but more in terms of the craftsmanship techniques, details and finishes,” he says, adding that 75 per cent of the materials used in the project will be sourced from within Lombok, with the remaining 25 per cent coming from elsewhere in Indonesia.
These locally-sourced materials including bamboo, reclaimed timber, stone, and more will soften the project’s environmental impact. The hope is that, combined with the flowing forms of the various villas which mimic the undulating hills down towards the ocean’s edge, they will present as organic components of an already-stunning natural setting.
